Someone is at my door again!
I know it even though the person did not make a sound. I huddled deep into my duvet, my heart racing faster than normal, everywhere eerily quiet.
My hands were clammy from sweat as intense fear gripped my heart. I smelt doom draw close and I knew the inevitable will happen that night.
My dad and stepmom were just next door but I knew that whatever would happen, I will face it alone.
My stepmom was my mother's best friend. One day I came home from school to meet my mother at the bottom of the stairs, her neck at an unnatural angle and my stepmom looking down at her from a step above. I saw a glint in her eyes before she rushed down the last step and started shouting for help. I knew my mom was dead and I knew who did it. I was numb all over as the medics rushed to attend to my mom.
Couple of months later, my dad married my stepmom, my mother's best friend. Something is wrong, dreadfully wrong and I don't know how to escape it. My mother died because of it, now I am afraid I am next. I am my mother's son, not my father's.
"Oh Mom, please save me"
As the plea left my lips silently, I heard the door open and I felt the presence draw close. Before I could say anything, a hand clamped over my mouth and a voice sinister as the devil's whispered in my right ear, "don't scream". I froze for a second, then started wiggling my seven year old body against the stronghold. Something strong overwhelmed me, I struggled with it till I lost consciousness.
Before I lost consciousness, I heard the sinister voice say, "now I can have what's rightfully mine".
"Oh mother!" Was my last conscious thought.
