Sheryl stood on the verandah as she waited endlessly for her husband.
She had news and she couldn't tell him on the phone. She needed to see his face while she delivered it. Who would have taught, she wondered.
They have been married for ten years; ten years of absolute Bliss when pressure to have a child is removed. Both of them climbed ranks in their respective work places. Both of them had enough vacation to honeymoon and make more future plans.
But now, it is time to call a spade a spade.
Sheryl shook her head...
Who would have thought indeed?
In the basement, a mother was trying to stop her three children from crying while she hid her fear so that her children will not notice. Yet they sense the fear, they smell it. Cassandra looked around the damp basement with a weak light in the corner.
Where is Dave? She wondered
Above the ground Sheryl waited, tapping her foot, her heart heavy.
She watched Dave drive in, saw him come down from the car. She only had to look at Dave to know that he knows that she now knows too.
Dave has been married another woman for 15 years with kids, while he has been married to her for ten years.
All these years he loved her yet there was one he loved more than her. She saw it in the woman's eyes.
The whole house was set to burn and she has the lighter.
She can never be second place.
