They will cry for me today

Even as my body they collectively lay

They will say I didn't say anything that day

Convincing themselves they were blind sided, so they could on their beds; peacefully lay

You wished I had shared my secrets with you

Yet you always from my obvious flaws create jokes anew

You made me feel less when only less you knew

Funny you should think I wouldn't have gone if my all you knew

I got here through a journey of a thousand miles

I changed my status from living to dead but before then I was a living corpse evidenced by numerous flies

Flies in the form of times were I voiced out my death thoughts and covered them with fake smiles

My best friend you were, yet for negligence sake you failed to see the signs

Alas, I take the bulk of the blame for being late but still share plenty with you

For being a part of my end when you were supposed to be a friend

But for the living there exists hope

And in that your breathing neighbor exists a chance of redemption

It's really not compulsory to use rhythm in poetry. If you must use a rhyming scheme, ensure you stick to a particular pattern.
