Nothing is ever what it seems.
Nothing has ever been what it looks.
So many were here before us,
We are here after they are gone,
Those we birth will live on what we left.
What have we done?
Those who were before us
Fought for the freedom we have today.
Do you know how they will cringe
In their graves?
Will they regret paying so dearly for this freedom we daily abuse?
Will the next generation curse or bless what we leave behind?
Gross disregard for lives...
How did we get here?
We lost our sight yet we still see
Not the things that will build us,
But those things that are gradually becoming our damnation.
Yet, we glory in them!
Oh how the mighty have fallen!
We forgot too early...
And we sacrificed our souls for a piece of bread.
Tears flood the land,
The blood of the unsuspecting
Drench the earth,
The cries of the ill-prepared
Render the skies,
Yet hope has become our food.
Can hope save us?
Time will tell.
We are blessed yet we live like those who are cursed.
Only us can save us, are we too late to be saved?
