THE HEAT OF LOVE
Theresa Banks was a single mother, whose love for her ten years old daughter, Payton, was matchless. She had her when she was a super teen, and since then, no man approached her for marriage. Her boyfriend, Derrick, was forced to have sex with her by some armed robbers, else, he'd be executed.
Years passed; she was taken from the streets by Mr. James, a Managing Director at a bank. He fell in love with her and didn't bother about her past. He promised to love her for better, for worse. James opened a very large supermarket for her, where she sold food items in bulk. Their love was like a fish that can't do without water.
A year after, they planned to get married when James returned from an assignment abroad. A day to his return, Theresa had a car accident and was rushed to an hospital.
As she recuperated, the doctor revealed to her that he was Derrick, her boyfriend. Theresa was appalled to know. She cried and asked him why he left her alone. Derrick made it known that he did because of shame. He was a young preacher who adjured other teens to abstain from premarital sex. He had to abscond.
Theresa narrated her story with tears in her eyes. Seeing their daughter, tears seeped out his eyes, hugging her.
Mr. James burst into the ward, hoping to see a resting Theresa. His heart pounded faster seeing a man in a long white jacket tightly embracing his wife-to-be and her daughter.
At the sight of him, Theresa held her head with shut eyes. She had seen the man who deflowered her, whom she truly loved, and had a child for; and a man who raised her up, loved her wholeheartedly, with marriage at hand. She was left with a fractured heart.
