Their voices were so audible,

Their stories were so plausible,

They made their acting incredible,

They said everything was possible.

We could hold the world at our fingertips,

Speak to the universe with our bare lips,

Drink all the good wines with just one sip,

This was how everything began to slip.

From our grasps that was so loose,

Our eyes that was devoid of good looks,

Our ears that detest the saddening truths,

And our hearts which would at light, fuse.

Deception was in their tongues,

which we grew very fond of.

"Dreams come true" our songs,

Until things went very worse.

Now, we grimace at the heavens for manna,

We hate on the sun for its good lights.

We blame the days for not breaking proper

and the moon not having a good heart.

Where did it all go wrong?

From our teachers, pastors and mentors

who would not tell us the painful truth,

that only dirty hands feed on good food.

We've grown

and our future is still unknown,

they hypnotized our souls

and served us lies on platters of gold.

We dreamt so much that we forgot reality,

and our mouths have widened in perplexity.

A turnaround still in proximity?

That question lies on our lips with curiosity.

If you must use rhythm in your poetry, you have to be consistent with whatever pattern you choose.
