The lexicon of true friendship can never be fully understood with words
For true friendship is a verb; a lifetime practice
An anti time phenomenon getting better and not weaker as time passes
Friendship is a fellowship where under mutual happiness all other laws falls

A true friend is like an umbrella that shields the pellets of the rain
A true friend is someone who loves without gain
A true friend weathers the rains and storm
A true friend will stay till the end and not run

Show me a man who has a true friend and I will show you one drunk with happiness as ale
For true friendship is a noun; a place where "me" becomes "we"
It is something magical, a real fairy tale
Friendship is an altar upon which loneliness is sacrificed for you and me

Whoever has a true friend has a rare gem
Because though they exist, they are rare
I like to think my friends are true
To be a true friend is indeed a virtue

The only thing better than "I made it" is "we made it"
For true friendship is an adjective; qualifying bonds between two or more people
Give me a true friend instead of gold
For though the latter perishes the former is for a lifetime

A CRITIQUE ON FRIENDSHIP

The poem "Friendship" was written by Anene Ebubechukwu and Ogunmodede Oluwaferanmi in January, 2020.

The poets sheds more light on the beauty of friendship and clearly gave a sound definition of friendship and with the use of good illustrations
compared the power and beauty of friendship with what the society places greater value on.

However, the use of punctuation was not correctly exploited and so made the poem difficult to read and comprehend.

In lines 7, the word *fall* when replaced with *fail* give the sentence a better meaning.

Also in lines 11, *A true friend weathers the rains and storm* leave the reader confused. The plurality of the word " rain" written as " rains" and the use of the word weather to mean " shield" leaves us wondering what dictionary to consult.

Furthermore, poets' transition from the omniscient point of view to the first persons point of view was abrupt and not excellent.

Finally, "friendship" is a poem that brings to mind the value of human beings and the warmth that is associated with the anti-time phenomenon "friendship" as the poets would put it.
