I am that girl who is a victim of rape,
Who believes that maybe it was her fault,
With her ever curvy backside and seemingly "benevolent" front side,
That couldn't keep from calling unto predators,
But believe me I am okay,
I am that girl who has been taught to be terrified of her father,
That whatever he says is law and final,
Watching my mother I have seen that he is a god,
To be worshipped and endlessly appeased,
But believe me I am okay,
I am that girl who has been told that she's beneath her brother,
That I am to constantly slave for him,
Because he'll carry on the family name,
While I'll just be transported to another,
But believe me I am okay,
I am that girl who has been told to shut up,
Because women do not talk they live in silence,
They keep the home and make the babies,
They are obscured from society like a disease,
Because their place is that of servitude,
But believe me I am okay.
I am okay while wallowing in tears,
I am okay while healing from my wears,
I am okay just because I say I am okay.
