The honor of our leaders' past, A topic that has been quite a debate for some time is the building of monuments in their name. Some argue that it is a good culture and a way of remembering their works, achievements, and an important way of honoring their accomplishments, others believe that all that cost is a waste of public money. I do wonder what my dear curious reader thinks on this subject.

Those who support the construction of these monuments do give good points on their position like these;

  1. It could serve as a source of inspiration for the younger generation well on their way to being the leaders of our tomorrow.
  2. They can serve as tourist attraction sites and generate income for the nation, therefore helping the populace with economic benefits.

well, that's all I'd like to mention, which of course are a few of many.

Those who argue against the construction of these monuments point out how they can be used in the construction of more needful things in society like schools, hospitals e.t.c

Ultimately, I say this is a complex one. While it is true that such monuments can be an important way of honoring great leaders, it is also true that they can be expensive. So there's the need for one who can tell the times and strike a balance of the decision; Profit or waste?

We try to leave our prints

In the Sands of Time

THIS we can do without a blueprint

And committing crimes.

Making positive changes and

Impacting lives

Will leave your prints also in the hearts of man.

Sculptures are nice if they serve the present generation

Monuments if they provide shelter, they have my veneration.

But why direct revenue meant for the living

To the dead,

Why sideline the living to uplift the dead.

Great men are great if their legacies can live

In the hearts of men without constant reminders of what they did before they joined the dead.
