Mum was the very nagging type and dad the coolheaded one. She once frustrated dad so much that dad had to leave the house for a whole day. He came back the next day and the first thing he said was "I am sorry honey."

Mum broke down in tears, went on her knees and apologizing. Well, as was the culture, dad would also go on his knees, pick her up and hug her, then eventually ask for his food. But this time, there was a slight change in norm, Dad actually pulled her up, looked her straight in the eye for few seconds and said these words,

"For real, I am sorry"

He said it so seriously that even mum was confused, I was too. I didn't know what it was he meant but if one thing was sure, it will be that he was hurt and very serious this time.

After saying those words, dad then left mum, went inside the room and brought out two bags which I know belonged to him. They looked packed full and ready for some sort of long time travel. Mum still shocked couldn't hold the tears and I couldn't but scream too. I saw my 13years old self run from where I was seated to hold dad's left leg screaming

"Dad, please, don't go, don't go!"

Mum was still stupefied and didn't know what to do. Everything about her seemed to be apologizing but I guess somethings just come too late. Dad looked down towards me and smiled. That leaked dry my tears and got me asking myself if he had always been this wicked. Leaving us and smiling, seriously?

I found him unbelievable and unwounded from his leg. He walked further towards the door then dropped the bags, looked back at mum and went for the handle,

"Bayo! Please! Don't go!" was mum's reponse which came out so intensely.

Dad opened the door and suddenly, a pool of persons rushed. The tear film in my eyes couldn't let me see but I noticed grandma and aunty were amidst them. The shout of "Surprise!" rented the air as some hefty men came in to pick the bags. Dad turned, gave mum some killer romantic smile and said,

"Honey, happy wedding anniversary to us. You have being such a lovely woman and I can't begin to tell how lucky I am to have you. In those bags are your clothes and Anny's well parked, mine is already at the airport. We are going to have a mini party before traveling to venezuela, I already apologized for not telling you earlier, I hope you are not offended at my small surprise?"

I couldn't but wonder what type of man he was. Mum neither, she ran towards her darling hubby and gave him the best hug ever amidst tears. She motioned to me and I affixed perfectly. Oh, I love my family!

The suspense was palpable but the delivery was shaky.
