Tell me a sweet tale
Tell me a tale free of pains
that our plants will have abundant rains,
tell me without stress or strains
that mama will return from the market with gains.
Tell me in a sweet manner
that each day will come with its manna
and we won't have to give out sister, little Hannah,
to the usurer who uses her like a found spanner.
Tell me that father's cassava will yield abundantly
to move our situation from the current stagnancy
lest this fuming cloud and its eerie pregnancy
bring down on us, rain of travesty.
Tell me a sweet tale free of lies
which has been told from the age of the ice
that all that has fallen shall rise,
while we struggle to hold inflation of price.
Tell me a sweet tale without a twisted tongue
and the hypocritic songs we have always sung,
that soon, rights would replace wrongs -
the possibility we have chased all years long.
