Dad always say you are a man never let any woman control you  always take charge. Growing up for me was the worst experience of my life. Dad always beat mummy for any little mistake. Mummy was very faithful she always prayed for dad I could remember one Faithful day after dad beat her she went into her room to pray for him, I followed her to her room I was shocked when I heard, "lord please bless my husband, all I could do was cry and smile at the same time. Aunty Chika knew what was going on she advice mummy to leave before she dies but  mummy refused to leave cliaming he would changed. Sometimes I blamed God for her death because she trusted him. Most times I do question his existence, why would he allow someone who so much trusted in him to die that way ? I always wondered. I could remember vividly the day he killed her. Mummy came back from vigil one faithful morning, their voices made me rush to the palour "where are you coming from", Dad asked in anger "my love I thought I told you I would be going for a vigil I am so tired please let me rest mum said. As she was about to go into the room dad pulled her back with her hair, you've grown wings, Chika was I not talking to you ?" Please leave me alone you hurting me mum cried". If only he knew, he wouldn't have slapped her maybe I won't have lived in the guilt of keeping quite and not telling granny what really happened . Dad killed mum after he slapped her she slumped a part of me felt that was his wish but I was helpless I was just a child.

"Chukwunonso keep the silent code" dad told me, all I could do was cry. Now history repeated itself my own wife's body lay right before me while my little daughter of thirteen stands beside the door.
