RAVAGED
How do I console her
To accept the loss of a child?
She cried in bitterness
For the much anticipated hope is gone.
In anguish, she wailed
In her lonely times, she despairs
A shadow of herself
She's bartered as though the future is lost.
I know the feeling
For even I felt my heart tearing from my chest
Drawing breath has never been this difficult
Where did we get it wrong?
Night comes handy
Even with the trauma turning nightmares
For the day gives birth to reality
A reality we so much abhor
I turned to rage for solace
Hoping in anger reality can be escaped.
Another effort in futility;
To find closure, the pain has to be felt.
But the world is not the consolation we seek
They sneak and peek
Looking for scapegoat here and there
Nay! We will not fall for this.
Let them talk, while we work
The story has just begun
As we sow tearfully,
Consolation beckons to consolidate the bond.
