"How many more Tim? "
"I don't know but we have to keep running"
"Till when Tim? " I barked.
"Do you want to die? Where is your sister? Your mum? Father?. We don't even know how many of us are left and this stone is in your hands. You opened the magical John Amulet and thus became the bearer of the stone. You have to put it in the sages hands then these people will be found"
I had no answers to those questions and I just nodded. But Tim mentioned that my family can be found if I succeeded. We exchanged gazes and he shied from mine.
"Speak it out, man! " Tim howled.
"What if they are dead? Your family, mine and the rest of the people. Will they come back to life? "
"We have to find the sages, you preferably"
Tim couldn't answer my question, he had no answer to it. We were living fine until I got that stone, now some hunters had killed people in search for this stone. We are on our heels because of the stone, we are lost, so is our family all because of this stone! They called it stone of life but it takes lives.
"Nick, see that! The stream. When we cross that stream, we'll find the sages"
I smiled, maybe I was relieved. I wanted answers, my family cannot die. The people - oh no!.
"How did you know? " I was tempted to ask.
"You didn't read the scrolls? Funny you. The 3 year olds know this. You're a lost so--u---l... "
Just then I realized Tim had fallen and an arrow in his belly. I was scared! The hunters, they were close. Tears fell down my cheeks, this was too much!
"Hey... Cr--o--ss tha-t stre---am. Find t-h-e s--a--g--es. And s--a--ve...... "
"Save who Tim? Talk to me man! "
Life left him slowly, he could speak again, his tears rushed now. They were hot. I left him there, I ran. I could hear some noises behind me, it was the hunters'. I kept running, I was the only hope. I jumped into the stream, I walked across it. An arrow struck my left arm. "Ouch! ". I walked out of the stream and before me were three men smiling. The sages! I dropped the stone in front of the one in the middle and it went into his hands, he waved his hand and my arm was healed.
"The hunters? "
"They're gone now Nick"
"You know my name? "
"The stone revealed it. You have saved the world! Everything is new now".
Then they turned and left. I felt a touch on my back. "Mum! You're.... "
"We're safe my dear. "
"Mum, Tim. He died for me"
"You're not going to give me a hug" a voice growled behind me
"Tim! Oh man, you made it! "
"You saved me! And the people too"
In Tim's arms, i saw everyone behind him. His family, mine and the general people. It's a stone of life indeed!
