AGAINST ALL ODDS

I grew up in the ghetto and loosing my Dad at a very tender age was catastrophic for my nuclear family. My Dad was the breadwinner of the family and things got from good to worst in a blink of an eye. 

My name is Ada and this is how I over came all odds to succeed. I wasn't given birth to in the ghetto, you may be amazed that i once laid claim to one of the houses in Banana Island as my safe haven, until the tragic death that stole all from me. My father borrowed some money from the bank to raise his business from the ashes and he didn't pay back before his death so the bank took our house and some of my father's valuables. 

My mother sold what she could lay her hands on and moved to a remote place to start all over, she moved to mafoluku to a place popularly called "agbole". I started school and was able to scale through till like SS2 when  I got pregnant.

The pregnancy weighed me down, I contemplated  abortion but I was encouraged not to do so, nine months later I gave birth to a beautiful daughter and it was love at first sight. I was happy I didn't terminate the pregnancy. I always dreamt of being a lawyer, after giving birth to Ifunanya i decided to take WAEC examination after three years of the birth of my baby, I passed and I attempted Jamb examination and was lucky to get the cut off mark for my desired course of study. 

With my savings and help from my mother I managed to pay my acceptance fee into the University. During my University days things weren't rosy I had to juggle school and being a sales girl in a canteen so as to survive in school. I didn't get to do what most of my colleagues did in school but I wasn't bothered because I know where I am headed to. 

In a week time I would be graduating from Law school as a barrister and looking back now I am happy I didn't let my setbacks set me back.
