There would be from all side,
A wailing from inside,
And then moans and whispers from the outside;
Only if men were God.

There would be a fight in life,
For a wholesome rife,
And then the killing strife;
Only if men were God.

There would be death,
As with birth,
And then grindings of teeth;
Only if men were God.

There would be a painful sorrow,
That boils down the marrow,
And then dreams that never saw the morrow;
Only if men were God

There would be a piercing cry,
For men that pry,
And then try;
Ah! Only if men were God.
