By and by she climbed the tree with stark yellow eyes,
The sun with a beaming smile, the wind with a wild dance,
Her brown furry coat glitters underneath the afternoon skies,
A hive lurks in the branches as bees took a stance,
She showed no glimpse of despair.
So tempting was the honey dripping,
Guarded by an army of soldier bees singing,
Her outstretched paws gallantly leading the band,
She waves and swirls like a wand,
The prize to win is tempting and clear.
At first go was a stinging almost to the death,
Still she went, one, two, three, down to the tenth,
One last attempt brought the hive down in a heap,
Irked soldiers putting her to the whip,
How can tiny for the mighty have no fear?
She glanced over her shoulder to the expanse of opportunity,
An opportunity to put asunder the ties of final failure,
With a leap of faith, she plunge into instinct,
Prize in hand, she was given a chase,
Clinging inbetween was what was dear,
An oasis in shrubs brightened her blurry eyes,
Hope is just a yard not miles,
Into safe haven she dashed in,
Soldiers are not allowed in this inn,
Victory at lost was worth death's stare
