I once met death,

On the heap of sands of grandfather's grave he stood.

A smile crept into his mood,

for he had buried the old man deep in the earth.

I tried to hold him, to unmask him,

a strong courage I had summoned,

but alas! He was gone,

Gone! Nowhere to be found,

leaving me silently profound.

He was gone alas in a trice,

taking along grandfather's mild life.

Disappointedly, i withheld

 my grasp,

and ran hastily into my father's arm.

He would protect me from the beastly devil I thought,

with him, by death, I'll never be caught.

But i looked into father's weakening eyes,

and I saw death lurking in his lashes,

I saw his print clearly in father's grey hair,

and I realized one day, I'll be next.

That discovery downed me, I was scared,

it sank me, an inevitable end,

should father be crowned this compulsory title,

I shall be next, preparing for the lost battle.

My eyes roamed, seeking comfort,

in my father's eyes, which were sore.

Perhaps father knew what I knew. And bitterly,

he appeals for that day, internally.
