TWIST OF FATE
One twist, another fate
Once a tweak, another frails
Sweet dreams, rotten rays
Sweet nights, bad days
I was blind to a spot
But a seer in a rowing boat
Dreamt piloting a plane in the air
Woke a captain of a dead ship
Poor me
I had a vision on one side
The second side a mystery
Where I saw without looking
Hopes hanging in my heart
Fell regretfully on the ground
A tip of faith within me
Drops into the ocean of death
Is this fate?
Or a twisting fate
My heart bask in questions
Not a listening ear have answers to--
Now a new vision came
A vision I never saw in my dream
A vision that ended my sweet dreams
In her innocence; like a gloomy mood.

Twist of Fate
This poem is deep and the poet personae is nostalgic. I like the paradox of faith over fate and the poet's hopelessness after series of empty promises, as the poet personae says: poor me I had a vision on one side/the second side is mystery.
The too much rot in a system does not allow hope to survive and in that hopeless state, the poet wonders if there would be any new vision that can bring back his sweat dreams to reality.
To every coin there're two sides and unfortunately, the Nigerian system seems to fall short of that bad side of the coin.
Twist of Fate falls into the social reality of the state of the nation. I wish the poet can give hope to the readers in spite of...
