WHAT DO THEY THINK OF POETS?
What do they think of poets?
That they are geeks who know no better than think
Or that their lifestyle are like that of saints
Who will neither taste liquor nor smoke blunts?
What do they think of poets?
That they are fanatics who are obsessed
With religious institutions and all their actions are
Under a particular code of conduct?
What do they think of poets?
That they are angels that smile on pens,
But retreat and run, at the verge of guns?
Or generous praise singers, that must
never talk against a powerful intimidator?
What do they think of poets?
That they are ruthless truth seekers,
Who won't back of until their wills are met,
Or faceless singers that doesn't own a single instrument,
So they let their words drain off and not in?
What do they think of poets?
That they are liars who flatter words
And talk about the unreal
Or that they are men and women in distress
Who hide between the words and pages of ballads and elegies?
What do they really think of us?
That we are flat tyres who needs their air before we walk
Or that we are confused souls who need their accolades to speak?
But, tell them this words are an undying weapon,
We are poets and poetry is the life we live.
