I never also thought I was eligible or my vote could count when I was in college. We always saw voting as an act of patriotism that should be taken by elders alone. Yes, we were ignorant that we also had a role to play. A very important role. 

Bring it to the table, Parents are the first to take up this task of educating their kids about voting. They say Charity begins at home, this should also begin at home. This will help us see if Parents too vote. Secondly, we move to Schools, emphasizing on why young people in College should vote.

We all know that when it comes to the time for voting, we have polling units set up in streets where young people do nothing but walk around and play. What about they gather around and vote. Leaders of tomorrow? We could make that phrase count. 

Political apathy is a phenomenon that needs to be tackled in today's world. It is the state of no not being interested in political activities. It's common among students especially qualified students in colleges. Most students say it because those in power or in charge of political affairs do not do their work effectively and they have the mindset that they do not get to put in power they are choice of candidates as they fear the elections will be rigged.

However, there so many ways to tackle this but it will require but the society and college authorities for it to be effective.

Getting students to participate in activities that require them analysing politics and brainstorming on ways effective change can be made by participation, encouraging them to participate in student unionism/ government as this is the closest depiction of the real world politics in the college environment.

This way, being an active part in politics become a part of the students and they know it's their civic responsibility to go out, register and vote.
