One of the reasons many individuals feel that a lot of pressure is being placed on them is because they have made a grave mistake of loving others at the expense of forsaking themselves.

Both religions —Islam and Christianity— have preached love. In both, the establishment of love rests in the textual evidence that we should love our neighbors like ourselves, yet, many people misinterpret this text. The fact remains that God wants you to love yourself first. You can’t give what you don’t have, thus, the need to learn to love yourself first before loving others comes before anything.

REGRET

“I didn’t ask you to.” The words resounded in my head with a bang. It had been hours since I first heard it, and my feet had not regained its function alongside my entire body.

I remembered things, sacrifices I made, they were a whole lot- dropping out of school at the forefront. Stupid- my friend had called my decision but there was no way I could sponsor the both of us. So, I chose him, a grave mistake.

My money, my years, my support, was all for nothing. He was right though, he never asked me to, he just told me about his problems and I put him first every time.
