Best Legacy
Bolaji is the only child of Chief Williams, who is the richest man in his own world. His wife gave birth to Bolaji at the age of 54 while Chief Williams was 73 after five consecutive failed In-vitro fertilization (IVF).
Bolaji is brilliant right from childhood, smart and sharp. His father would always say..."without education, you can't be successful in life".His parents ensured that he got the best education from the best schools in the country.
Bolaji is a good and determined student that cherished education as much as his parents. He obtained a degree in MB;BS and masters in similar disciple.After some years, Bolaji fell ill and was devastated after it was confirmed that he has Lung Cancer. The doctor had said to him "...you have less than 2 months to live, all is in God's hands" .
With tears and a heavy heart, Bolaji replied the Doctor "what is God? who's God? what about Him can you tell me?".The Doctor who happened to be his senior colleague and who had a strong liking for him understand his reaction and spoke to him gently.
"Almighty God is the uncreated creator, He created the heavens and earth, He created you and I and every mankind" Doctor paused briefly and continued "God Almighty created every animate and inanimate body in the universe, all for the main reason glorify and worship Him, even though this neither add nor subtract from His majestic self. Soon after, the atmosphere became an emotional one as the Doctor continued to explain this big question to Bolaji. " Someday, we shall all return to Him and give account of how we lived our life", he concluded. By now, Bolaji had developed a blurred vision as a cloud of tears had started to form in his eyes. "Thank you Doctor, for teaching me a great lesson at the point of death", he had managed to say finally.
Chief Williams and his wife arrived at the hospital to see their only son as usual, but this time with a heart filled with sadness . They met him in a good mood. Bolaji thanked his parents for bringing him to this world and for giving him a good upbringing, he requested that all his educational certificates be brought to him , his parents obliged...
His confused parents kept staring at him as he made to sit up right ,while holding the files containing his several certificates, he brought each of the neatly laminated document out while reading out the details on written it, finally he read the last one and heaved a sigh of relief. He then said... " mum, dad, i thank you again for everything, but i learnt a new degree lately, it was about knowing the God, the one in charge of the heavens and the earth, the One who created you and me,it is so sad that I just attained this knowledge at a time like this, just on my death bed, you two have laid a good legacy for me in every aspect of life , except the best of them all, knowing the Lord of the world and obtaining a degree in studying Him"
By now, the family of three had started crying and consoling themselves.
